In Loving Memory of Sadie
Sadie, our beloved red nose pit bull, passed away at 12 years old, leaving behind a home that feels quieter and hearts that will always carry her imprint.
We brought Sadie home when she was only four weeks old — tiny, vulnerable, and already full of personality. She grew up alongside our family, and over the years she became more than a pet. She became part of the foundation of our home. Her heavy footsteps, her familiar huffing breaths, and the way she would settle herself right beside us were the everyday comforts we never realized we would one day miss so deeply.
She was our “fat girl,” solid and warm, always sounding a little out of breath — especially when she was excited. That sweet, breathy enthusiasm was so perfectly Sadie. She loved car rides with the windows down, loved being outdoors, and especially loved to swim. Water brought out her pure joy, and watching her splash around is a memory we will forever treasure.
Sadie was smart and full of character. We taught her how to “play dead,” and she would perform it proudly. But if anyone dared to point at her, she made her feelings very clear — she absolutely hated being pointed at. That little spark of sass was part of her charm and made her uniquely ours.
More than anything, Sadie was loving, gentle, and protective. She was a steady presence for our children — letting them lean against her, sit beside her, and sleep peacefully while she kept watch. She wasn’t just nearby; she was safe. She was constant. She was family.
She leaves behind her puppy, Dixie, now 11 years old, who grew up with her by her side. The bond they shared, and the love Sadie gave so freely to everyone around her, will never be forgotten.
Twelve years was not long enough for a heart like hers. Her paw prints are forever pressed into our lives.
A Letter to Our Sweet Girl
Sadie girl,
From the moment we held you at four weeks old, you were ours. You grew with us, protected us, loved us without hesitation. You were there for the big moments and the ordinary ones — and somehow made them all feel special just by being present.
Thank you for being the safest place for our babies. Thank you for the car rides, the swims, the stubborn moments, and even the huffing breaths that filled our home with life. Thank you for your loyalty and your gentle heart.
We hope you’re somewhere warm, with endless water to swim in and room to run free. We hope you know how deeply you were loved — and always will be.
You were the best girl, and you will forever be ours.
