Saben was the first dog and son of mine. I still remember when I was asked to go get a puppy and ended up coming home with him. Saben was and will always be one of the best dogs me and my family has ever had. There were many things that he loved in his life, from car rides to walking around anywhere, and the love he had to play with a Frisbee. We went through many Frisbees in his lifetime and he was always so happy when we brought him a new one. Of
Of course like all dogs he loved to get treats of all different kinds, from your normal dog treats all the way to cheese balls and the such. It didn't help that everytime my mom went to snack on something he always showed up knowing that he'd be getting some of it. I remember one of the first times I ever gave him a rib bone that he took it from me and swallowed it whole. He had me worried for a few days unsure if
it'll hurt his stomach or possibly get stuck, but luckily he had no issues at all. Saben was a good protector and knew his territory. He was always wary of new people when they came around the house, but once he realizes you're not a threat he'll be happy to get love from you. There were also plenty of things that he didn't like in his life. Even though he was part lab, he didn't care at all for any type of water. He knew when it was bath time and you'd have to force him to the bathroom, but as soon as you get him into the bathroom he admits defeat and hops in the tub with no issues. Saben was a huge baby when it came to thunderstorms. He'll be in your lap or on top of you the whole time shaking and breathing heavily until it finally passes. Another thing he didn't care for was being pet or touched on the face. He wouldn't bite you or do any of the sort
but he always moves his head away. Instead he'll let you scratch and rub his back all day long.
Saben lived a good and happy life and was loved throughout his lifetime. He was also one of the easiest dogs to potty train. If he ever needed to go outside he was sure to let you know. If he was unable to be let outside and knew he couldn't hold it, the majority of the time he would go into my parents bathroom and go there. I was lucky enough that I never had to worry about him marking his spot anywhere inside the house. He's one of the only dogs. me and my family could trust to leave out of a kennel from a pretty young age. He never was one to tear up anything or get into anything he shouldn't have unlike some other dogs I know(Sophie and Grace).
Saben will always hold a part of my heart
and a piece of everyone else who loved him. I wish I could've been able to take away his pain that he was going through during his last few days. I wish he was able to get to meet my son and his brother that will be due at the beginning of July, but God knew it was time for him to rest and play Frisbee up above. Until we meet again Saben, I love you.
