Reighanne Flippo, a beloved and cherished soul, passed away on May 9, 2026, in Midland City. At 14 years old, she lived a life full of love, devotion, and gentle guidance, embodying the spirit of a caring “Nanny” to all who knew her.
Reighanne’s role in her family was one of protector and teacher, especially to her beloved siblings and the occasional rescue that found refuge in her home. She watched over Sophie, her tiny and bossy nine-pound Yorkie sister, with unwavering affection, treating her as her very first true baby. Their days were often spent snuggled together, wrapped in warmth and comfort. After Sophie, Waylon James entered her life, and Reighanne’s intuitive nature shone as she immediately sensed his health concerns and dutifully guided him to the best napping spots, offering love and care during his time with the family. Though Waylon James has since passed, his memory remains deeply etched in the hearts of those who loved him and Reighanne.
Reighanne experienced the pangs of loneliness after Waylon James’s departure, but joy re-entered her life when Ryder James, a young, spirited puppy, arrived. With renewed pep in her step, she eagerly shared her wisdom, teaching Ryder the best places to watch the world unfold—like the kitchen window—and how to embrace the living rhythm of their bustling household.
Her patience extended beyond her brothers to her nieces, to whom she imparted lessons on how to open doors, the proper way to chase squirrels, and even how to playfully pester the family donkey. Reighanne’s gentle nature embraced Maggie, Allie’s dog who fancied herself the queen of the castle, allowing her reign while they bonded over regal naps together.
Reighanne’s personality was a reflection of kindness and quiet strength. She bore the profound qualities of a teacher—patient, loving, and wise—and her presence was a soothing balm to all creatures around her. She found joy not only in companionship but also in the simplest pleasures: the sun-dappled porch with Uncle Joe and Aunt Kay, where the world drifted by to the tune of a crackling radio, or the beloved solo rides around the block with Grandma and Da, moments that may have seemed small but meant everything to her.
Her life was a testament to love and loyalty. She was a devoted “daddy’s girl,” always wanting to be near Nathan, her dog dad, and held a deep bond with Lori, her dog mom, as well as her human siblings Alyssa, Allie, Caleb, Madison, and Liam. Liam, in particular, held a special place in her heart, the one who read to her and tended to her with great care whenever she had a bump or a boo-boo.
Reighanne truly embodied living her best life each day. Whether cuddling with baby calves or napping alongside baby donkeys, she embraced all living creatures with tenderness. Her love knew no bounds, and her gentle spirit will forever remain a cherished part of her family’s world.
We are grateful beyond words to Dr. Horne, who was there when God called Reighanne home, a peaceful passing for a beloved dog known to have earned her place in Heaven. We also hold comfort in knowing that Aunt Kay was there, waiting just beyond the Rainbow Bridge, ready to welcome her favorite dog with open arms.
Though Reighanne has left this earth, her legacy of love, patience, and gentle guidance lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She may have closed her eyes for the last time, but the warmth she gave—and the lessons she taught—will forever be a light guiding her family forward. Rest peacefully, dear Reighanne, watched over and treasured always.
