Puffer Eiland

~2018-August 14, 2026

Puffer passed away peacefully in the arms of her Mama and Daddy on August 14, 2026, after a long, courageous, and exhausting battle with coronary disease. She is survived by her mom and dad, Reida and John. Though heartbroken by her passing, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now in God's hands and fully healed.

In January 2020, Puffer's parents found her at SOS Animal Rescue in Enterprise, AL, where she had been sheltered after being discovered lost and wandering in a rural area near Hartford, AL. She was suffering from heartworms and malnutrition. When she first jumped into her prospective Daddy's lap and then into her future Mama's, she began a loving bond with them that lasted a little over six and a half wonderful years.

Upon arrival at her new home her new Mom and Dad discussed where Puffer would be sleeping in the bedroom. Her Dad pointed to the doggie bed in the corner and Puffer jumped up on Mom and Dad's bed where she slept between them for the rest of her life. From the first day in her new home, she oversaw how things ran in the household.

Puffer was what we called our "Velcro dog" because she stuck to you. She usually didn't play favorites and would often shift her location in the house from one parent to the other and back again. Other than a fresh doggie treat, one of her most favorite things was a ride anywhere in Dad's truck while standing or sitting in Mom's lap with the air from the open window blowing across her happy face. A stop at the dog park and an unhurried walk while sniffing all the smells would cap off a perfect trip from home for her.

"Dogs' lives are too short. Their only fault, really". - Agnes Turnbull. Puffer, your life was too short, but your parents cherish the time we had together. When we get to the other side ourselves, we hope you will be waiting for us. For now, rest in peace our beloved little girl. We did not rescue you. You rescued us. You will never be forgotten, and we will always love you. - Mom and Dad.
