Though Matilda was "just" a shelter dog, who spent the majority of her life in a kennel, she showed the world just how loyal and loving dogs can be. From the time I met her for the Shelter Slumber Pawty, until the day she drew her last breath she showed joy with every minute of attention. She was a girl who loved her snacks, it didn't matter the type, just loved them all.
She was a high energy pup that really cherished each walk she got. The 24 hours I got to spend with her opened my eyes to how much we never truly see when we walk a shelter. She would jump off the walls when I first met her, but with each time I visited she became more calm knowing she was being seen. She would patiently wait on her treats, take in every sniff and enjoy every minute of our walks. She had a fondness for belly rubs and wanted to be with you.
She was loved by so many yet never found her home, she did not let that stop her from sharing her love. Her heavy paws and wagging tail told the tale of a dog that knew she was loved each time she hugged you and gave kisses. We only wish we were able to find you a home sweet girl. Run free and often, take in all the sights and smells that you did not get a chance to here. Know you brought joy and purpose, many of eyes will be opened thanks to you.
