In loving memory of precious Maggie, also affectionately called Maggie May, and Magpie. Her sudden, unexpected passing has been heartbreaking, to say the least. From living on the streets, to cotton sheets, Maggie was given the pampered life that she deserved.
Maggie’s HUGE smiles showing so much gum tissue and teeth will forever be missed. Her smiles also showed in her eyes, and were sometimes followed with a tail wag. She would always smile before “Army crawling” across the bed or floor, and could’ve held her own with any soldier on an obstacle course.
Her “brother” (also a rescue) never met a stranger. He wasn’t into op-sec (operational security) like Maggie, who was always aware of her surroundings. Or sizing up people and keeping unknowns at a distance. But once she trusted someone, she would be loyal to the end. Maggie had a calm demeanor, except at mealtimes or when given treats. At those times, she didn’t mind being vocal and bossy. Although sneaky and stubborn at times, Maggie always had a loving and calm demeanor.
It’s strange to say how a dog can have “quiet strength”, but yet Maggie did. While she only had to be kept safe during fireworks and thunderstorms, her keen observation skills helped her to be the best protector. From the drive-thru (always a threat when strangers close, even when handing over food!) to road trips, Maggie would keep us safe from harm. On one occasion, a guy was about to either commit car-jacking or robbery. Her aggressive demeanor thwarted the would-be attacker, and Maggie saved the day.
Maggie was two months shy of turning fourteen~which wasn’t long enough with a fur baby like her. She will never be forgotten, and hopefully will be in Heaven (if pets allowed) to one day greet me and her brother. Rest well, sweet Maggie.
