Cooper Brown Brooks was born on December 19, 2014 in Geneva, AL. Having the shiniest coat of his siblings, his Bop brought him home to his forever family in February 2015. Cooper lived with his Gram and Bop that winter and spring and then was given the ultimate responsibility that summer being his mom, Jaden’s, sunshine, protector, and fierce companion where they lived together in Dadeville, AL on Lake Martin. This was a gift of love Jaden never asked for and that gift kept on giving for the next 11 years.

Cooper loved lake life. He enjoyed countless boat rides, paddle boarding with his mom, head bobbing for fish on the dock steps, cooling off with swims, hunting lizards, sitting on the porch with his loved ones, walks, and his favorite pastime, a long game of fetch. He enjoyed ice cubes out of the freezer, frozen green beans, and treats out of his treat jar that he would even nuzzle the lid on and tell you when he wanted one if it had been a while since he last had one.

Cooper had many friends around the lake in his neighborhood and made sure to become a familiar face to many households. He loved to go on adventures and sneak off to see them and swim in secret spots leaving his mom back at home worried sick trying to find him. She spent countless minutes riding the neighborhood calling his name until she would spot him and bring him back home. His friend's parents would also call at times to let her know that he was over at their place having the best time and never causing trouble.

Cooper had a heart for anyone who took the time to throw him his ball. Although he dreaded hearing “no more” after dropping his ball at your feet for more throws, he had such an obedient spirit. He had the best personality and was so smart and fun loving. He was gentle and yet he would protect his home and loved ones in an instant even as a puppy with the deepest bark to let them know someone was approaching or at the door - especially the UPS truck! He’d have a fit anytime he would see one whether it was walking the neighborhood or riding down the road. One time this fit and passion landed him a ride in a UPS truck as he chased one down the highway causing the driver to pull over, put him inside and bring him back to his mom who was running after him completely out of breath, thankful that her buddy lived to see another day.

Cooper spent many hours of his life on the road traveling back and forth from the lake and Geneva to visit his grandparents and cousins, John Parker, Ellie, Max and Bear. He was always so excited for any sleepover with his Gram and reserved his best cuddles and snuggles for her.

In August of 2023 Cooper gained a dad, Jonathan, and he and his mom moved to Dothan, AL where he would live out his remaining years. Cooper was so honored to be his dad’s first pet and made it his mission, even during his weakest moments in his last days, to be at the garage door to greet his dad coming home after a long day at the office with excited barks and aggressive tails wags. However, when it came to the early mornings he never sent him off to work and stayed tightly tucked away (lots of times on his back with all four legs in the air) in his bed until his mommy’s feet hit the floor each day refusing to begin the day until she did and getting his morning kisses. He was happiest at his mother’s side and being her constant shadow.

Cooper gained the ultimate promotion of becoming a big bother to Jack on January 9, 2025. He was always so good to put a smile on Jack’s face first thing each day. He let his brother crawl all over and around him and had so much patience as Jack learned to pet. His favorite part of any day was the daily walks throughout the neighborhood with his mom and brother. Cooper walked his last lap on February 3, 2026, and spent the rest of his days lying around and guarding his home watching every move his mom, dad and Jack made.

The Lord answered many prayers and allowed Cooper to witness his baby brother take his first steps and learn how to walk in his last few weeks on this earth. He passed peacefully at home in his mom’s hands on February 26, 2026.

Cooper was preceded in death by his Bop, cousins Max and Bear and his great grandmother, G-Bug.

It was our privilege to love and care for you, Cooper, and not a day will go by that you aren’t missed. You were the goodest of all good boys!
